Mexico FAQs
Here are answers to some questions you may have about my next season of ministry with One Mission Society (OMS) in Mexico.
1) When do you go? Lord willing, I will move to Mexico in early 2025. I will keep you updated! I still live in Greenwood on the OMS campus. My priorities are support raising and preparation for cross-cultural ministry/living. I am working with OMS on details such as visa requirements, researching how to move to Mexico, the timing of it all, and more. I am about 87% funded for my recurring (monthly) Mexico ministry financial support requirement and 100% funded for my estimated start-up expenses.
2) Where will you live? Mexico City (photos of which are in this email).

3) Do you speak Spanish? I speak some but still have much to learn (and am working on that even now)! I will attend language school in Mexico (likely in Puebla) for potentially a full year shortly after I arrive in Mexico.
4) What will your ministry role in Mexico be? I will serve as OMS Mexico’s short-term team coordinator. I will also work to expand OMS Mexico’s pool of translators, coming alongside them to help them grow in their English competency.

5) How long will you serve in Mexico? I am going to Mexico as a career residential missionary, which means that, other than times of homeland ministry assignment/deputation/furlough, I will be on the field full time.
6) Is Pumpkin going with you? Yes, that is the plan! The following pictures are of Pumpkin adjusting to her new travel harness every once in a while. Trying to make her comfortable being a missionary cat!

7) What do your parents think? They are supportive! My mom now has a passport, and my dad renewed his.
8) Are there other OMS missionaries in Mexico? Yes! We have three residential OMS missionaries (one couple and one single woman) in Mexico City, and they are wonderful. OMS also has several fantastic national partners who carry out ministry all over Mexico. We pray for God to call more laborers into his work throughout Mexico!

I am happy to clarify and answer any other questions you have! I would enjoy connecting with you either in person or via call (video/phone). You can email me at lgard@onemissionsociety.org.
Thank you for your investment in my ministry!
