February Update
Welcome to Lydia's Heart for Mexico!

Happy Valentine's Day! What a great day to introduce you to my ministry website!

I'm excited to share this new communication platform I'll be using to keep you informed about my Mexico missionary adventure with One Mission Society (OMS). By receiving this, you are already subscribed to updates.

I hope you'll take time to explore my website. It's been a labor of love learning to design and personalize. I'm grateful for One Village Group's patience, expertise, and guidance making it possible. One Village Group is an outside organization that partners with OMS and other ministries to improve mission communication and engagement.

Support Raising Update

As of today, I'm about 90% funded. This percentage represents a couple funding changes that occurred in December, as well as some wonderful new donors. To be fully funded, I need an additional $450 each month.

I cannot head to Mexico until I have at least 100% of my recurring (monthly, quarterly, annual) giving need. If you'd like to begin giving or increase your monthly donation, please use the button below, or click "Give" on my site's home page.

Exciting news: My pre-field funds are covered! God provided the first $10,000 through your generosity and the remaining $15,000 through part of my church's incredibly kind Christmas offering. Praise the Lord!

Visa Process

OMS and I are working with an immigration lawyer in Mexico to apply for temporary residency. When the immigration office in Mexico approves the paperwork, I will make an appointment at the consulate in Indianapolis to complete the provisional visa process. Once the consulate puts the provisional visa on my passport, I then have up to six months to arrive in Mexico and 30 days after my arrival to complete the visa process in Mexico City. All of this, of course, is Lord willing.

I borrowed an OMS conference room for a few hours last month so I could spread out and work on Spanish.

Spanish Acquisition

I still have a one-one-one Spanish tutor (via Skype) for an hour each week and am keeping my Duolingo streak alive (more than 600 days!). I enjoy learning español ... even when it is challenging! This practice provides familiarity and a foundation that I trust will make language school in Mexico a bit less overwhelming.

Praises and Prayer Requests

-Join me in celebrating God's provision of the cash required for my moving and setup expenses, as well as new monthly partners!

-Please pray for God to continue connecting me with the right people who will become long-term prayer and financial ministry partners.

-Please pray for the visa process to go smoothly.

-Please pray for the many logistics (and emotions!) of moving to a different country.

May you remember God's love for you this Valentine's Day and beyond! As 1 John 4:19 says, "We love because he first loved us."

Thank you for your role in sharing God's love throughout Mexico!
